The team behind Wise Owl Film’s BBC Two series When ‘X’ Came To Britain will be on stage in Leeds in November to talk about the making of the award-winning brand.
There have been seven When ‘X’s...starting with Bob Marley as the subject of the first documentary in 2020. Films which explored the impact on the UK of Nirvana, the Motown 1965 tour, Tina Turner, Blondie, ABBA and Bruce Springsteen were to follow, with Wise Owl creating one of the most popular music documentary brands in recent years on British TV.
Mark Robinson, executive producer of all seven episodes in the series, said:
“Just how did Bruce Springsteen end up with a box of Wise Owl's Yorkshire tea bags and crumbly biscuits? What was it like filming on stage with Blondie in front of 100,000 people at Glastonbury? And what happened when it looked like our Tina Turner film would have to be scrapped half way through production?
“All these production secrets and more will be shared in an evening which we hope will be a revelatory celebration of a brand which it has been an absolute privilege for the team at Wise Owl to produce.
“We have got to travel the world, meet our musical heroes, and find out just what Britain really means to them – as well as we what they have meant to us through talking to dedicated fans with extraordinary stories to share”.
When The Legends Came To Britain is an RTS Yorkshire event which will be held at the Record Plant, Sunnybank Mills, Pudsey, LS28 5UJ on Wednesday November 12th at 6.30pm. Information on tickets for this event are on the RTS Yorkshire website.
